How We Evaluate

Editorial Methodology

Every listing in the Manila Beauty Guide directory is evaluated using a four-criterion framework applied across a minimum of two anonymous editorial visits. This page documents the criteria, weighting, scoring scale, and re-evaluation schedule.

Visit Protocol

Anonymous Booking

All editorial visits are booked under assumed names. Editors do not identify themselves as reviewers at any point during the visit.

Full Standard Rates

Editors pay the full published treatment rate. No media discounts, complimentary sessions, or hospitality are accepted at any stage.

Minimum Two Visits

No listing is published based on a single visit. A minimum of two separate visits — typically with different treating practitioners — are required before evaluation is finalised.

Scoring Criteria

Safety & Credentials

Weight: 35%

Active DOH facility licence, PRC-certified treating physician matched to treatment type, documented pharmaceutical supply chain for injectables. Any failure in this category disqualifies a listing entirely.

Treatment Quality

Weight: 30%

Clinical outcomes observed across multiple anonymous visits. Device calibration, technique precision, protocol adherence, and result consistency against published clinical standards.

Facility Standard

Weight: 20%

Cleanliness, sterile protocol compliance, equipment maintenance, waiting environment, and accessibility. Observed unannounced at full client rates.

Service Culture

Weight: 15%

Consultation quality, communication clarity, informed consent process, aftercare guidance, and follow-up responsiveness. Accounts for the full client journey from booking to post-treatment.

Diamond Display Scale

Editorial scores are also displayed as a 1–5 diamond (◆) scale for quick visual reference throughout the directory. The mapping is:

◆◆◆◆◆5 / 5Exceptional — top tier by all criteria
◆◆◆◆◇4 / 5Outstanding — minor gap in one area
◆◆◆◇◇3 / 5Very Good — clear strengths, one improvement area

Re-Evaluation Schedule

All directory listings are re-evaluated at minimum once per quarter. Listings flagged by user reports or editorial intelligence may be re-evaluated earlier. Scores are updated on the listing page following re-evaluation with the date of last assessment displayed.

Clinics that fall below our minimum standard of 8.0 following re-evaluation are removed from the directory. No listing fee influences this decision. Clinic management has no editorial input over published scores.

Commercial Independence

Manila Beauty Guide accepts paid listings — clinics pay a directory listing fee after editorial acceptance. This fee covers publication, photography coordination, and quarterly review cycles. It does not purchase a minimum score, a badge, or any positive editorial treatment.

Rankings are determined entirely by editorial score and are never sold. The order of ranking results pages reflects our editorial assessment only. Clinics may not pay to appear higher in rankings than their score warrants.
